Aegean Bronze Age Rhyta
by Robert B. Koehl

Rhyta are among the most appealing yet enigmatic classes of Aegean Bronze Age artifacts. They have not been comprehensively studied since 1911. After almost a century of archaeological excavation and scholarship, this new volume organizes the rhyta into four main types based on structural characteristics that follow their functional requirements. The development of rhyta is documented with profile drawings and photographs. The use of rhyta in Aegean society is also considered based upon their find contexts.

Contents: 1. Typology, History, and Development; 2. Catalog; 3. Mechanical Functions; 4. The Contexts and Uses of Aegean Rhyta; 5. Summary and Conclusions.
